Relazioni sintagmatiche e fenomeni di variazione del significato. Il caso di ago con i nomi di artefatto

This study analyzes the transitive constructions of ago in combination with concrete nouns and especially with artefact nouns. Since within the same basic meaning, attributed by the lexicographic tradition to the verb ago, a wide semantic variability can be noted, the analysis aims to investigate which semantic parameters are relevant in the modification of the meaning of ago in these verb-nominal combinations. For the purposes of the study, the data analysis is conducted within the theoretical framework of Pustejovsky’s Generative Lexicon. The findings of the study make it possible to point out that the variation of meaning of ago is actualized in the syntagmatic relations that the verb establishes with the nouns that constitute its direct object.
