An exploratory study of peer corrective feedback in a corpus of Italian - Russian tandem interactions
Abstract
This exploratory study examines corrective feedback among students in an Italian-Russian tandem program, focusing on the corrections provided by a sample of six Italian-speaking participants to their Russian-speaking partners in one of the four tasks assigned by the organizers. The program involved both in-person and remote activities, both synchronous and asynchronous. The materials produced by non-native speakers during remote activities (emails, chat transcripts, notes, etc.) received corrective feedback from their native-speaking partners. The instructions did not provide specific guidelines on how to give feedback, so this observational investigation identified and described the main corrective strategies spontaneously adopted by the Italian participants.
