La lingua e la cultura italiana nelle scuole e università italiane all’estero: alcune testimonianze
Abstract
The paper aims to illustrate the main results emerging from qualitative interviews conducted in 2021 with a selected sample of teachers, school leaders and lecturers working in Italian schools and universities abroad. The research represents the second phase of an online survey which took place in 2020 on a random, non-censored sample of teachers, school leaders and lecturers working abroad. The study was aimed at investigating their perceptions on some issues related to the teaching of Italian language and culture in the school and university programmes and curricula abroad, to Continuous Professional Development initiatives, also with the use of technologies in the pandemic era, and to the role and spread of the Italian language and culture within the multilingual
landscape of the various countries of the interviewees. The interviews carried out remotely, returned a very vivid and interesting picture of the ways in which Italian language and culture are taught and learned also with reference to the challenges imposed by the pandemic, as well as illustrating the perception and spread of the idea of Italian-ness in some geographical areas, specifically Spain, Turkey, Algeria, Australia.
