Italiano, Putonghua e dialetto Wu: il repertorio linguistico della comunità sinofona nella città di Pescara

This contribution only represents a small piece of the composite sociolinguistic Italian patchwork concerning new linguistic minorities settled in our territory. Specifically, the present study aims at investigating the results of an analysis of the linguistic resources available to six Chinese families in the city of Pescara. Through a qualitative investigation, the differences between the members of the first generation and those belonging to the ‘non-migrated zero generation’ will be analysed, in particular regarding the usage of the languages in their repertoire. The linguistic behaviour of the informants will be looked at, trying to understand how language usage is changing and what kind of relationship exists between the languages in the ‘zero generation’ repertoire, who favours the standardised languages over the dialect, because more prestigious and useful in contemporary society.
