Per una storia della terminologia del genere grammaticale nelle grammatiche italiane
Abstract
In this contribution polysemous gender terminology in Italian grammar is analysed. The analysis focusses on the use of this terminology in grammars from the 1400s till today by retracing its Latin and, before this, Greek origins. The first attested forms are traced, with a number of them which date previously to Battaglia and DELI, and some new terminological proposals (oscillante) are made, as well as semantic extensions (mozione, promiscuo). Attention is given to various forms and their derivations which are no longer in use, preceded by the symbol †.
